Volunteers are our lifeblood!
Thank you for your interest in volunteering your time and skills to Queer Screen. We appreciate your generosity and support without which our events wouldn’t happen. This is even more important now while we try to make Queer Screen more sustainable in all areas of our operations.
Queer Screen is run and managed by volunteers at every level from the Board to the cinema ushers, and has always enjoyed tremendous support from our community. Our emphasis is on having fun and making new friends, as much as working hard at all our events.
Some of the activities that you have the option to become involved in include assisting at the Mardi Gras and Queer Screen Film Festivals, learning new Festival production skills, helping out with the Queer Screen Stand on Fair Day, and joining in with other activities such as our Trivia events and ad hoc screenings.
When you complete our volunteers sign up form, you will be able to indicate your areas of interest in our core operations of Finance, Governance, Administration, Volunteers, Events, Marketing, Fundraising and Sponsorship.
You will also have the option to join our Cast and Crew list, which will send you information from queer film makers looking for assistance with their productions. See below.
Looking for Volunteer Cast or Crew?
Queer Screen is committed to assisting the production of queer films. Many of our Queer Screen volunteers have skills or connections in the film industry. If you need help in getting a queer production off the ground, we can send your request to our list of volunteers, who will be told to contact you directly, if they can help you.
Email email@example.com with the subject heading “Cast and Crew Request”, giving details of your production and the skills you are looking for.
1) Queer Screen will only send requests to the volunteers who have opted to be put on the cast and crew list,
2) Queer Screen will not ever give out the list, simply send the request to the list,
3) Queer Screen will not be involved in any of the subsequent arrangements.
