A Good Child

A tender and heartfelt comedy-drama inspired by the true story of Singaporean drag queen Sammi Zhen, from director ONG Kuo Sin (Number 1).

When courageous and glamorous drag queen Jiahao returns to his family home for his conservative father’s funeral, he discovers his mother, Ju Hua, has been diagnosed with dementia. Determined to shoulder the responsibility of her care, Jiahao steps in while continuing to perform by night. But when Ju Hua mistakes his drag persona for her (non-existent) daughter, he takes the opportunity to build a new relationship with her without the baggage of his childhood, and finally confront the buried memories and unresolved trauma he thought he’d left behind.

Featuring a layered lead performance by Singaporean star Richie Koh alongside Hong Hui Fang (Ajoomma) as Ju Hua, A Good Child balances humour and heartbreak in a moving exploration of family, identity and unconditional love.
