Afternoon Delight is a movie matinee, afternoon tea and intergenerational social gathering celebrating our older LGBTIQ+ community (plus friends and allies).
Enjoy a screening of the short films Lesbian Custody and You Can Call Me Lou followed by the feature I Was Born This Way, the story of Archbishop Carl Bean, the singer of the 1977 disco hit of the same name that became one of the first gay anthems. Exploring his musical career, move into AIDS activism and eventual founding of the first LGBTIQ+ ministry in the USA, it features interviews with the likes of Lady Gaga, Billy Porter and Dionne Warwick reflecting on his impact on their lives and careers. Delicious treats, drag celebrities, networking and access to local health information available after the screening.
