Hacks scene-stealer Meg Stalter shines as an awkward musician trying to right some wrongs, in this bittersweet comedy that’ll have you cackling.
Stalter plays struggling (albeit eternally optimistic) LA musician Cora, who makes the snap decision to return to her Portland hometown and make amends with the girlfriend she thought she was in a long-distance, open relationship with. Alas, it’s soon clear that Justine (Jojo T. Gibbs) has moved on in her absence, causing Cora to reevaluate her entire universe. Stalter delivers a hilarious performance that is also touching as the optimistic, prickly and slightly awkward Cora. And in Stalter’s hands, she leaps off the screen.
