Executive-produced by Olympic gold medallist Sue Bird, Row of Life tells the remarkable story of Paralympian Angela Madsen’s most ambitious journey yet: a solo, unassisted row across the Pacific Ocean.
In 2020, 60 year-old paraplegic Marine Corps veteran Angela Madsen attempted to row solo and unassisted across the Pacific Ocean, over 3,500 kilometres from Los Angeles to Hawaii. Having achieved a number of firsts including being the first woman with a disability to row across the Atlantic Ocean, this was her most ambitious row yet. What unfolds is a heart-rending story of her determination, resilience and immense courage to pursue the unknown. Throughout it all is the unyielding support of Angela’s wife Deb who, even separated by a vast ocean, champions Angela’s dream at all costs.
A three-time Paralympian (in wheelchair basketball, shotput, javelin and rowing) and multiple Guinness World Record holder, Angela refused to be limited by other people’s expectations. Named for Angela’s boat, the film came about when she approached director Soraya Simi about filming her row across the Pacific, but eventually evolved into a profile of her life with her relationship with Deb at its core.
