MGFF18: That’s A Wrap!

MGFF18: That’s A Wrap!

After 88 screenings and events – which included 20 sold-out sessions, six Australian feature films, three world premieres, visits from 14 international guests and countless local filmmakers – and with an audience of 18,000, the 25th Mardi Gras Film Festival came to a close last Thursday. Phew!

It was a festival which saw our most popular opening film in years (Ideal Home); a look back at some brilliant My Queer Career short films; a tribute to 78ers; a preview of this year’s landmark teen film Love, Simon; a countdown of all-time favourite LGBT films (congrats, Brokeback Mountain) and a screening of the doco Black Divaz which scored two standing ovations!

We had an amazing time showcasing the incredible LGBTIQ stories from all over the globe and celebrating and championing the diversity within our community and we hope you enjoyed the festival just as much as we did!

DARWIN, AUSTRALIA – SEPTEMBER 27: Black Divaz Documentary shoot in Darwin on September 27, 2017 in Darwin, Australia.
