Join Queer Screen and the City of Sydney as we commemorate Transgender Day of Remembrance with a FREE screening of uplifting dramedy Runs in the Family.

A reformed con artist, Varun, and his transmasculine son, River, road trip across South Africa to break River’s estranged mother out of rehab. When injury befalls River’s drag partner, his mother propels father and son to partner up for a drag competition that could win River the money to cover his gender affirming surgery.

Directed by Ian Gabriel, and written by and starring his own son Gabe Gabriel, this uplifting and authentic tale is all about acceptance, unconditional love and the power of family, whether biological or chosen.
