TRANSMISSION: THE JOURNEY FROM AIDS TO HIV
Wednesday 19 November, 7pm
Event Cinemas George Street

Queer Screen, ACON and Positive Life NSW present a special event screening and panel. The screening will be introduced by Hon Jillian Skinner MP, Minister for Health and Minister for Medical Research. All proceeds go to support the production costs of the film.

TRANSMISSION records the personal journey of the renowned Swedish film-maker Staffan Hildebrand. Since the earliest days of the epidemic Staffan has filmed the faces of AIDS around the world – starting in Sydney in the grim early days of AIDS. Drawing on this unique archive, TRANSMISSION shows us the devastation caused by AIDS in Australia and Cambodia, in the words of those closest to the disease, and contrasts this with the contemporary faces of those living with HIV, rather than dying of AIDS.

Panel – HIV: THEN AND NOW moderated by Fran Kelly, presenter of ABC Radio National Breakfast. The panel includes Bill Whittaker AM, Chair NSW HIV Strategy Implementation Committee; Daniel Brace, Living Positive Victoria; Craig Cooper, Positive Life NSW; Abby Landy, The Institute of Many; and Sebastian Robinson, Actor.

Tickets are also available for a pre-drink function starting at 6pm at the Set Bar at Event Cinemas. One drink per ticket.
