Volunteer Opportunity: Programming Pre-Screeners

Queer Screen is looking for Programming Pre-Screeners to assist with viewing film submissions, to help with programming for Queer Screen Film Fest (August 2025) and Mardi Gras Film Festival (February 2026). This is a volunteer position with a high level of commitment.

Candidates should have a passion for and strong knowledge of film and filmmakers, in particular LGBTIQ+ cinema. Education in film or experience in film festival programming, special events or gallery curation are considered a strong asset.

In order to encourage a diversity of point of views amongst the pre-screening team, to best reflect the diversity of the LGBTIQ+ community, we strongly encourage applications from people who are:

  • Aged 18-30
  • Black, Indigenous and/or people of colour
  • Trans, non-binary and gender diverse
  • Women
  • People with disabilities
  • Or those who have a particular interest in short films

Position: Programming Pre-Screener
Reports to: Programmer
Term commitment: Part-time for 8 months, from May 2025 – early December 2025
Time commitment: Minimum commitment of 8 hours of film watching per month, plus time to submit reviews of each film
