As fans of A League Of Their Own since the original film was released in 1992, Queer Screen is extremely excited to be able to screen the first two episodes of the new Prime Video series, A League Of Their Own.

Starring favourites of the queer community including Abbi Jacobson (Broad City) as creator and lead, Nick Offerman (Parks and Recreation), D’Arcy Carden (The Good Place) and Roberta Colindrez (Vida) plus a whole lot more, this deserves the hype it’s already receiving.

Add to that director Jamie Babbitt, who you may know from a little film called But I’m A Cheerleader, and you know you’re in for a joyful, and very queer journey.

The new series is a beautiful homage to the irreverent spirit of Penny Marshall’s film, and at the same time broadens its scope to showcase the generation of women who dreamed of playing baseball. From marginalised communities in terms of both race and sexuality, these new, captivating women and their stories will have you from the very first second.

A League Of Their Own is from Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures Television in association with Field Trip Productions. The series is co-created and executive produced by Will Graham and Abbi Jacobson. Field Trip’s Hailey Wierengo and Desta Tedros Reff also serve as executive producers. Jamie Babbit directed the pilot and also serves as executive producer. Based on the film from Sony’s Columbia Pictures.

The Amazon Original Series A League Of Their Own premieres exclusively on Prime Video Australia on Friday August 12.
