An intersex runaway, working at a laundromat by day and as a sex worker by night, longs for a way out of his bleak New Jersey life, in this Sundance hit.
After a drug deal goes wrong, Ponyboi (writer River Gallo, in a star-making performance) is forced to flee from the mob, while confronting painful memories of growing up in a conservative Salvadoran household. With help from a mysterious cowboy (Australia’s own Murray Bartlett, The White Lotus), Ponyboi embarks on a 24-hour journey of self-discovery and survival. With a supporting cast including Dylan O’Brien (The Maze Runner), Indya Moore (Pose) and Victoria Pedretti (The Haunting of Hill House), Ponyboi combines surrealism and a harsh criminal underworld with a raw, tender exploration of queer identity.
