Submit Your Film for Goes to Cannes

Queer Screen is seeking LGBTIQ+ narrative features that are in production or post-production for an incredible opportunity at the industry’s leading market.

Queer Screen is a participant in the Goes to Cannes initiative at the Marché du Film which runs in conjunction with the prestigious Cannes Film Festival. Each year the Marché du Film offers five renowned festivals the chance to showcase their selection of original work-in-progress titles looking for sales agents, distributors or festival selection.

In 2023 Queer Screen was the first ever LGBTQIA+ and Australian film festival to be involved in the Goes to Cannes program, and we are now seeking projects to participate in our return for a second year.

Eligible projects must:

  • Be a narrative feature film with a runtime of 60 minutes or over
  • Have subject matter that focuses on LGBTIQ+ central characters and/or themes
  • Be currently in production or at the post-production stage
  • Ideally not have an international sales agent attached
  • Not have been selected to participate in any markets or festivals prior to May 2024

While participants are not required to travel to Cannes, it is strongly encouraged if possible, as it is an opportunity to network and meet with interested sales agents, distributors and festival programmers in person. Queer Screen and Marché du Film are unable to assist with covering the costs of travel or accommodation.

If selected, participants will:

  • Receive one free accreditation to attend the Marché du Film in Cannes
  • Present an up to 3 minute pitch about their film at a Queer Screen Goes to Cannes market screening as part of the Marché du Film in Cannes (if unable to attend in person, a pre-recorded video can be used)
  • Show a 10-12 minute extract from the film at the Queer Screen Goes to Cannes market screening as part of the Marché du Film in Cannes (this can either be one long extract, or a selection of shorter extracts)
  • Present a pre-recorded up to 3 minute pitch video and the same extract from the film as part of the online component of the Marché du Film

Submissions close 11:59PM Sunday 31 March (Australian Eastern Daylight Time).

All applicants will be notified of the decision by the end of April.
