Beautiful Thing
Regarded as a seminal gay classic, this tender love story between two working-class teenage boys living on a South London council estate is full of heart and laughs.
With school summer holidays just around the corner, Jamie is already bunking off school to avoid playing football, much to his overworked mum Sandra’s annoyance. Next door lives the athletic Ste, who endures bullying from his abusive father and unsympathetic brother. Amidst this grey, oppressive environment, but surrounded by colourful characters – including Mama Cass-obsessed teen Leah and Sandra’s hippie boyfriend Tony – the two youths discover their intense growing feelings for each other.
